VENEZUELA: Venezuela takes over OPEC presidency
Venezuela, one of the founding members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), in late January took over the rotating presidency for 2018 at a very inauspicious time, with oil production close to a three-decade low and the state oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) a shadow of its former self.
