In brief: Nicaragua

Nicaragua: The Nicaraguan government led by President Daniel Ortega has, through its national tourism institute (Intur), launched its tourism campaign for 2018, both locally and abroad. With the slogan #ILikeYouAsYouAre, it will target various sectors including beach tourism, adventure tourism, nature tourism, cultural tourism, and ecotourism. The campaign will target other countries in Central America as well as the US and the European Union. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), 1.5m international tourists visited Nicaragua in 2016, up 8.5% on the previous year, spending some US$642m in the country.
