Bolivia: Bolivia’s private sector lobby Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE) has released figures which show that Bolivia’s trade deficit was US$1.30bn in 2017, up 1.2% on the trade deficit registered in 2016. The figures also show that exports in 2017 were up 10.5% to reach US$7.99bn while imports were up 9.1% to reach US$9.29bn. Bolivia’s main export markets were Brazil (which accounted for 18% of total exports), Argentina (16%) and the US (8%). Meanwhile, the countries which provided the main source of imports were China (22%), Brazil (17%), and Argentina (12%).
