*Brazil’s unemployment rates continued to fall towards the end of 2017. Statistics institute IBGE found unemployment fell to 11.8% in the fourth quarter of 2017, affecting 12.3m people, down 0.6 percentage points from the previous quarter. However, of those who are employed, the number of people in low-quality jobs without social security protection increased.
