‘Escuelas al Cien’ starts 2018 with mixed results

The government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto in September 2015 announced the creation of the ‘Escuelas al Cien’ school infrastructure development programme, as part of its wider education reform. With a planned investment of M$50bn (US$2.69bn) to improve 33,000 schools across the country until the end of the current administration in late 2018, it is one of the most ambitious school infrastructure programmes ever launched in Mexico.
