Cuba replaces head of US affairs

Argentina: On 9 February, Argentina's security minister, Patricia Bullrich, and the Acting Administrator of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Robert Patterson, announced the creation of a taskforce to fight terrorism and drug trafficking at Argentina’s borders with neighbouring Paraguay and Brazil. The taskforce will consist of federal and provincial Argentine agents as well as additional DEA agents and analysts. The announcement came during Bullrich’s visit to the US, where she also met with Admiral Kurt W Tidd, the Commander of the US Southern Command (Southcom), which is responsible for security cooperation in Central and South America, to discuss greater cooperation and information sharing to combat drug trafficking.
