An Awkward Republican Hug

The ruling Partido Colorado (ANR-PC) is divided into two main camps. In December, the anti-Cartista faction led by Mario Abdo Benítez triumphed over the ruling rival faction Honor Colorado led by President Horacio Cartes. But ahead of the election in April, both sides must come together and present a united front. They did so through an awkward republican hug; whereby the defeated party embraces the triumphant one in a gesture of reconciliation.
