How to cope with the growing wave of Venezuelan migrants

People are leaving Venezuela in their tens and hundreds of thousands. Without guarantees that the new presidential election (and now also legislative elections as well) called for 22 April will be fair and free, the country’s multi-year social, political and economic crisis is showing no sign of coming to an early end. That means the flow of Venezuelans into Latin America and the Caribbean – and particularly into neighbouring countries like Colombia and Brazil – will continue to rise. Here we look at what the region is trying to do to cope with this humanitarian crisis.
