Peru: Of art and terrorism

Lima’s art museum MALI has come under attack for allegedly promoting terrorism. This comes after police seized pieces of traditional Peruvian artwork – known as the Tablas de Sarhua – including some which depict members of terrorist organisation Sendero Luminoso (SL) belonging to the museum. Furore over the Tablas feeds into a wider debate about Fujimori’s legacy as the man who crushed the SL amid fears of a possible resurgence.
