GUYANA: The good news still keeps coming

In the January issue we wrote: “It would seem that, for Guyana, the good news keeps coming” [RC-18-01]. That comment was prompted by US oil giant ExxonMobil’s announcement of a major oil find at its Ranger-1 exploration well. Not much more than a month later, on 27 February, Guyana’s Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman announced another major discovery in the Stabroek block by ExxonMobil, four miles from the Paraya well. Making the announcement of the latest find, Trotman said: “To date we have overseen the drilling of seven wells by Exxon, six of which have borne fruit.”
