BRAZIL: Evangelicals set to rise – again – this election

Brazilians are not optimistic about October's elections. In fact, 44% described themselves as pessimistic, according to a survey carried out by Brazil’s National Industry Confederation, or CNI, published on 13 March. However, they are clear about what kind of person they want as president. 87% said they want someone honest, while 79% said they want someone who believes in God. That may be good news for Jair Bolsonaro, the ex-army captain running second in the polls who has been baptised as both a Catholic and an Evangelical.
