Mexico: New report highlights growing impunity

One of the fundamental problems of the Mexican criminal justice system has frequently been identified as the persistence of high impunity rates – the fact that only a small proportion of crimes actually come to trial, and that only a small proportion of those lead to convictions. A new report by Universidad de las Américas de Puebla (UDLAP)[1] seeks to quantify and compare impunity rates across Mexico and a number of other countries.
