* Mexico’s national hydrocarbon commission (CNH), the sector regulator, has reported that 21 firms from 14 different countries have submitted bids for the ‘Round 3.1’ of oil exploration and exploitation concession contracts that will be auctioned on 27 March. A CNH statement said that 14 firms including BP, Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell, and Mexico’s state-owned oil firm Pemex have submitted individual bids while other firms including Pan American Energy, Total, and Premier Oil have submitted bids as a part of consortiums. The 35 concessions on offer are all located in shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico and are believed to contain some 1.9bn barrels of crude oil equivalent.
