* Brazil’s President Michel Temer named one of his key allies, former chief cabinet secretary Wellington Moreira Franco, as his new energy & mines minister. It comes after outgoing minister Fernando Coelho Filho left to run in the October general election, and another possible successor, his deputy minister Paulo Pedrosa, also resigned. In a statement, Moreira Franco promised to continue the same agenda and to prioritise the privatisation of the state-owned utilities company Eletrobrás.
