Venezuela/Colombia: Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg has announced that her country will give US$1m in humanitarian aid to victims of Venezuela's economic and social crisis. Solberg made the announcement in Colombia’s capital Bogotá on 9 April. After meeting with Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos, Solberg also decided to dedicate half the funds to aid refugees in Colombia who have fled from Venezuela. According to the Colombian Red Cross Society’s revised appeal, just under 800,000 people entered Colombia from Venezuela in 2017 for short-term aid, long-term asylum, or transit to other countries, and an estimated 2,000 to 10,000 migrants circulate through Colombia every day. Solberg met with President Santos for three days primarily to discuss the implementation of the peace accords between the Colombian government and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrillas.
