GUYANA: A critical moment for Guyana

Venezuela is disputing the validity of the referral of its territorial dispute with Guyana to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres referred the dispute to the ICJ on 30 January. On 30 March, the Venezuelan foreign ministry issued a statement saying: “Resorting to a judicial settlement to settle the dispute is unacceptable, sterile, and inapplicable.”
