Guatemala has voted overwhelmingly to ask the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague to rule on the country’s long-running territorial dispute with Belize. The vote, which took place on 15 April, was in line with a 2008 agreement whereby both countries agreed to submit the dispute to the ICJ for resolution, pending approval from both sides through a referendum with a simple majority.
