* The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has condemned the assassination on 10 April of at least 21 people during a prison break in the Santa Izabel prison complex in the Brazilian city of Belém, capital of the northern state of Pará. During the incident, a group of armed men entered the enclosure, broke down the walls, and held some prison-agents hostage. The IACHR has called on the state to investigate how this happened and how to hold those responsible to account.
