Colorados win presidency in close contest
Paraguay’s ruling Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado party (ANR-PC) has held onto the presidency for another five years after its candidate, Mario Abdo Benítez, won the 22 April presidential election. Educated in the US, ‘Marito’ is the son of former dictator Alfredo Stroessner’s (1954-1989) private secretary.
