BRAZIL | Tensions at the border. The government of the northern state of Roraima has asked the federal government to temporarily close the border with Venezuela. Roraima Governor Suely Campos said authorities could not cope with around 500-700 Venezuelan immigrants entering Brazil via Roraima every day trying to escape the deep economic and social crisis in Venezuela. Given the humanitarian crisis, she also asked the federal government to provide it with more funds to deal with the situation.
