* Brazil’s social development minister, Alberto Beltrame, has announced that the government will boost the conditional cash-transfer programme 'Bolsa Família' used by 13m low income families in Brazil. President Michel Temer is expected to increase government expenditure for the programme by 3%, just above last year’s inflation rate of 2.95%. The official figure is due to be announced on 1 May.
