Latin America ready to go electric?

Without a doubt, this wave of change will reach Latin America and the Caribbean. An interesting question is whether LAC consumers are innovative and open to accepting new types of vehicles, or whether they are conservative and in some way deeply wedded to the traditional, family-owned, petrol consuming motorcar. A survey commissioned by Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan, with results published in March 2018, suggests that the innovators may predominate. The headline result was that eight out of ten Latin Americans are willing to buy an electric vehicle. The survey was conducted by C230, a consultancy affiliated with the Fundacíon IDEA think tank.
