* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has released new figures which show that remittances in the first quarter of 2018 reached US$7.035bn – higher than what was received in the same period last year, which totalled US$6.64bn. The average remittance amount between January, February, and March 2018 was calculated at US$306.6, higher than in the same period of 2017, which was US$304.3. In March 2018 alone, expat remittances totalled US$2.621bn, higher than sums in February 2018, which were valued at US$2.198bn, and March 2017, which were valued at US$2.52bn.
