President Juan Manuel Santos insisted this week that it was not true to say that the peace process with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) “is failing”. Santos was speaking after a crisis meeting with his ‘post-conflict cabinet’. He came out in defence of the peace accord in the wake of criticism by both the government’s former chief peace negotiator, Humberto de la Calle, now a presidential candidate, and his Farc counterpart in Cuba, ‘Iván Márquez’ (Luciano Marín Arango).
