US concerns over Honduras anti-corruption mission

Argentina: On 14 May, US President Donald Trump said he supported Argentina’s decision to seek financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during a brief ten-minute phone call with his Argentine counterpart Mauricio Macri. For his part, Macri expressed concern over his country’s struggle to reduce the fiscal deficit, according to a statement on the government’s website. Ahead of the IMF negotiations, Macri welcomed support from the US Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass, who has publicly backed the Argentine government’s ‘gradualist’ economic agenda.
