* The Mexican confederation of industrial chambers (Concamin) has warned that the theft of merchandise in Mexico has reached “alarming” levels. Concamin representative Felipe de Javier Peña Dueñas said that Concamin members have reported 3,357 instances of merchandise theft in the country between January and March, a 65% increase compared with the same period last year and a 106% increase compared with the same period of 2016. Peña Dueñas said that this situation was “overwhelming” the industrial sector and in particular the food, fuel, and chemicals sub-sectors, which have reported the majority (70%) of the thefts.
