* Brazil's President Michel Temer’s new minister, Ronaldo Fonseca, resigned less than 24h after being sworn in as the secretary-general to the president. Fonseca did not provide any explanations, but the government’s current weakness due to continued strike action may have something to do with it. Fonseca was an influential member of the evangelical bench, which the ruling Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (MDB) party hoped to court to canvas support for Henrique Meirelles’ presidential campaign. But the move has backfired, leaving the MDB looking isolated.
