LatinNews Regional Monitor: Mexico - 30 May 2018

In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s state-owned oil firm, Pemex, has announced that a consortium formed of Saipem and Saimexicana, two local subsidiaries of Italian energy firm Eni, have been awarded a M$779.1m (US$39.24m) contract to renovate and return to operations its Planta H-Oil facility of its ‘Miguel Hidalgo’ refinery located in the central state of Hidalgo. A Pemex statement said that nine different companies presented bids for the contract but that it was awarded to the Saipem-Saimexicana consortium after it was determined that this offered the best technical and economic offer. The Pemex statement adds that the renovation of the Planta H-Oil facility will allow for increased production of ultra-low sulphur gasoline, as well as a more efficient use of crude oil for the production of other refined fuels such as diesel and jet fuel.
