Colombia’s immediate future may lie on the right of the political spectrum. Iván Duque, the presidential candidate of the right-wing Centro Democrático (CD), was best placed in the first round of elections held on 27 May. He now faces a second round run-off against left-winger Gustavo Petro of the Colombia Humana (CH) coalition, who took second place, narrowly squeezing out Sergio Fajardo of the centre-left Coalición Colombia.
