In brief: Mexico

* The Mexican confederation of industrial chambers (Concamin) has presented a national industrial policy plan to the economic teams of the four presidential candidates ahead of the 1 July general election. At a press conference, Concamin president Francisco Cervantes Díaz said that the proposals include ten key points. These include plans to transform the economy ministry into a ministry of economic development, and to develop the energy sector by improving productivity and competitiveness of companies and using investment schemes to take advantage of the technical capacity and finance of the private sector without generating monopolies and oligopolies while maintaining state involvement. According to Concamin, these changes could increase Mexico’s GDP growth by between 1.5-2.5 percentage points in future years.
