*Mexico’s multinational beverage company Coca-Cola Femsa, the largest Coca-Cola franchise bottler in the world by sales volume, has announced its acquisition of Uruguay’s Montevideo Refrescos SRL (Monresa) from The Coca-Cola Company (US). A Coca-Cola Femsa press release notes that the aggregate enterprise value for this transaction was US$250.7m on a cash free and debt free basis. Founded in 1943, Monresa is the exclusive distributor and manufacturer of the extensive Coca-Cola beverage portfolio in Uruguay, serving a market of 3.4m consumers through 26,000 points of sale. The integration of this franchise increases Coca-Cola Femsa’s presence to 11 countries worldwide.
