In brief: Uruguay

Uruguay: Uruguay’s national meat institute (Inac) has released a new report which shows that the country’s meat exports totalled US$995m in the first half of 2018, up 9% compared with the same period the previous year. As regards destinations for the exports, China is the main market (accounting for US$415m worth of exports or 42% of the total), followed by the European Union (EU) (20%) and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Association: Mexico, US, and Canada) which accounted for 14%.
