Chile: Chile’s international economic relations directorate (Direcon) has released new figures which show the country registered a US$5.5bn trade surplus in the first half of 2018. Exports totalled US$39.2bn, while imports totalled US$33.7bn. Exports were up 22% compared with the same period in 2017, while imports were up by 15%. Mining exports (which accounted for 53% of total exports) were up 27% on the same period in 2017, while non-mining exports were up by 16%.
