* Brazil’s federal police have carried out 64 arrest warrants and 106 search warrants as part of a cargo theft investigation. Code-named ‘Transbordo’ the operation uncovered a cargo theft scheme involving lorry drivers in six Brazilian states: Alagoas, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Ceará, and Pernambuco. The police estimated the losses as a result of the scheme were in excess of R$8.6m (US$2.2m).
