In brief: Paraguay

Paraguay: Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has revised upwards its GDP growth forecast for the year from 4.5% to 4.7%. The BCP’s president, Carlos Fernández Valdovinos, noted that the forecast has been adjusted due to the fact that all of the country’s economic indicators continue to show signs of dynamism, with the BCP’s monthly economic activity indicator (Imaep) showing that domestic economic activity increased by 6% in May (the latest available figures). Indeed, Fernández said that it is possible that year-end growth could exceed 4.7% if economic activity maintains its current dynamism in the second half of the year.
