Colombia: Seven to four on corruption

After years of little movement in the field of anti-corruption reforms, Colombia now faces a wealth of proposals. A total of seven anti-corruption measures will be submitted to a national referendum due to be held on 26 August. Separately, the newly inaugurated government of President Iván Duque says it will submit four major anti-corruption bills to congress. Some, including the new president, say the seven and the four are complementary. Others say that practically, politically, and procedurally speaking, the two packages may be at odds with each other.
