Mexico: Trouble in Jalisco

The evidence of recent years suggests that no drug trafficking cartel lasts forever: they rise and fall in a perpetual struggle with their rivals and with law enforcement. So it is perhaps not surprising that the allegedly most powerful criminal group in Mexico, Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), is now facing multiple challenges, including the emergence of a rival group on its home ground, known as Cartel Nueva Plaza.
