* Mexico’s social security institute (IMSS) has released new figures which show that, as of 31 August, 20m formal jobs were registered, with an additional 644,978 formal jobs created in the first eight months of the year – the second highest amount for that period of the last 17 years. The IMSS press release states that 770,568 jobs were created over the last 12 months, equivalent to annual rate of 4% with a total of 3.76m formal jobs created under the current federal government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto, which took office for a six year term in 2012.
