GUATEMALA: Little progress on poverty reduction
Not all the statistics are consistent, but they point to three conclusions: one, Guatemala remains one of the poorest countries in Latin America; two, progress to eradicate poverty has been uneven; and three, despite its electoral promises, the current Frente de Convergencia Nacional (FCN-Nación) government of President Jimmy Morales has done little to change the situation.
