CUBA: Cuba’s tourism sector recalibrates post-Trump, Irma

Reports of the death of Cuba’s tourism industry appear exaggerated. Indeed, it remains one of the few relatively-positive sectors in the otherwise-struggling economy. Nonetheless, the direction of travel remains very much in the grip of official policymakers, who remain congenitally reluctant to relinquish even minimal control to Cubans themselves. The risk is that this official heavy-handedness will kill the unique spirit and appeal of the island’s offer.
