*Mexico's President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s pick for future deputy finance minister, Arturo Herrera, has told reporters that the next government is not ruling out the possibility that the tax authorities (SAT) apply a fiscal amnesty for those behind on their taxes. The current government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto rolled out a fiscal amnesty programme 'Ponte al Corriente' near the start of its six-year term in 2012 although this was criticised for allowing big companies to avoid paying taxes. Just over a month ago, in a meeting with the business sector, Alfonso Romo, López Obrador’s chief-of-staff nominee, said he was unaware of any plan for a fiscal amnesty or fiscal incentives, at least in the first year of the next administration, which assumes office in December.
