In brief: Peru

In a press conference with foreign media, James Atkins, the president of Peru’s state-owned oil firm Petroperú, said that several companies had expressed interest in operating in conjuction with it Peru’s largest oil block, Block 192 (located in Loreto region), once Canadian oil exploration and production company Frontera Energy’s current contract ends in September 2019. Companies to have expressed an interest in partnering with Petroperú include Algerian state-owned oil firm Sonatrach, Spain’s Cepsa; and Argentina’s Pluspetrol while Frontera has also expressed an interest in signing a new contract.
