In brief: Mexico

Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) announced that the country has received US$21.96bn in remittances from Mexicans residing abroad in the first eight months of 2018, up 11.07% on the same period the previous year. Over these months the average remittance was of US$320, up US$12 on the same period in 2017. In 2017 Mexico received US$30.29bn from its citizens residing abroad, up 6.59% on 2016 and the highest amount recorded in two decades.
