* Brazil’s national statistics agency (IBGE) has released figures for the September consumer price index (IPCA), which show that inflation was up 0.48% on the August rate when monthly inflation registered an unexpected slow-down. This brings the accumulated inflation rate this year to 3.34%, and the year-to-date rate to 4.53%. IBGE attributes the September rise in inflation to higher consumer prices in the transport sector.
