* Paraguay’s President Mario Abdo Benítez has announced that Taiwan will donate US$150m to Paraguay over the next five years to go on infrastructure, education, and security, more than double the amount given to the previous administration. During an official visit to Taiwan last week, Abdo Benítez and Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen signed a joint declaration reiterating friendly ties between the two countries and a shared commitment to promote investment, trade, and infrastructure during Abdo Benítez's term (2018-2023). Abdo Benítez also said that Paraguay and Taiwan would sign a memorandum of understanding to ratify the agreements made during the visit and to strengthen bilateral relations.
