Far away from the winds of change in Latin America

Uruguay’s political opposition is incorporating new figures to try to wrestle power away from the ruling coalition that has won the last three presidential elections, ahead of the October 2019 general election in which it will be forced to forge alliances. Faced with the problem of having to offer firm solutions to citizens’ concerns, Uruguay is poised to have a hard-fought electoral contest in which the winds of political change in Brazil may not have a major impact.
