* Brazil and Chile have concluded the fourth and final round of negotiations launched in April for the establishment of a bilateral free-trade agreement, due to be signed in December. The agreement will cover 17 areas, including electronics, telecommunications and commercial services, as well as a chapter on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The bilateral agreement is seen as complementing the agreement that Chile already has with the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), of which Brazil is a member. Brazil’s foreign ministry noted that it hopes the new agreement will allow for increased trade between the two countries. Trade between Chile and Brazil totalled US$8.5bn in 2017, and US$6.38bn in the first eight months of 2018 alone.
