Labour protests snowball

While many vulnerable Venezuelans remain cowed by fear of government reprisals – such as the loss of their jobs or entitlements received through the ‘Carnet de la Patria’ cards (needed to receive food parcels, pensions, and bonuses) – the current wave of labour conflicts in the public sector could provide the spark for more widespread anti-government protests.
