* Costa Rica’s national salary council (CNS), a tripartite body comprising representatives from the government, private sector (which provides 80% of jobs in the country), and unions, has approved a 2.96% salary increase for private sector workers. According to the most recent central bank (BCCR) report, year-on-year inflation in Costa Rica was 2.21% in September 2018. Separately, the CNS also approved a 3.50% salary increase for domestic workers.
