Security top of the agenda for new CDMX head of government

On 5 December, the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party’s Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will succeed Miguel Ángel Mancera to become the first woman elected as the Mexico City (CDMX) head of government – and the first to assume the role under the city’s new constitution, which has transformed the role into arguably the second-most important in Mexican politics. Sheinbaum will lead the city’s government during a six-year term ending in October 2024.
